Summer 2022 - Indianapolis, IN. USA
(36ft x 72ft)
Mural produced for Window to the World, a new redevelopment of the previous Lafayette Square Mall on the city’s Northwest corner.
When the Window to the World team reached out to Nick about doing a mural, they mentioned that the site exists within one of the most diverse areas in the inner city. They selected the “Window to the World” namesake to reflect their goal of sharing multiple cultures via food, retail, etc. within their development.
Nick’s main goal with the mural design was to approach the idea of diversity through color. Color means a great deal to people. Official country flags, football/soccer team jerseys, or architecture styles all lend themselves to certain colorways as identifiers of a certain place.
The mural design is an explosion of “culture through color” radiating from within the “W” logo. Scale is an important element to this mural as well. Some lines within the work are 50+ ft in length from start to finish. This provides an otherworldly sense of awe, and dynamism to the way passersby interact with the work.
“Painting this was a dream. Massive lines. Sweeping shapes of angular momentum… It was an all around good experience and I hope the mural lives on for years to come, inspiring people, and engaging those with a curious mind. Thank you to the Sojos team for making sure we were safe out there while painting and taken care of. Extra thank you to Jackson Tooley for the production assistance with this mural. My girlfriend Courtney for helping out with our new puppy back home while I painted this.
Thank you to Fabio/Rachel/Fernando/Carla/Daniela and others from the Sojos team for making this unique project happen. Can’t wait to see where this development goes in the next few years.” - Nick
