Summer 2024 - Modesto, California
8,000 Square Ft+ Mural Wraps around the entire building
Titled "Infinite Horizons," the mural wraps around the entire Mocse Credit Union building at 1400 J Street and is a vibrant and unique addition to the city's public art scene. It was commissioned by the credit union and designed by Nick Abstract in collaboration from local muralist Aaron Vickery of Fasm Creative.
The mural's theme draws inspiration from the area's architectural structures and the beautiful hues of Modesto’s sunsets, reflecting the community's strength and aspirations. The design incorporates vibrant colors and imagery symbolizing the cycle of day and night, aiming to enhance the building's architecture while adding energy and joy to the surrounding environment
The project showcases Modesto's commitment to public art and aims to be a gift to the community rather than a marketing tool.
This mural exemplifies a commitment to enhancing public spaces through art, and Nick extends his gratitude to entire Mocse Credit Union Team who was instrumental in making this happen. Special thank you to Aaron Vickery for the connection and place to stay during the mural installation, and all who contributed to bringing this vision to life.
Located in Louisville, Kentucky, Kremer Architecture collaborated with Nick to create a striking mural on their HQ. Grounded in architectural principles, the artwork features a powerful red hue, reflecting Kremer's brand colors. An abstracted 'K' nods to the company's founders, ensuring a harmonious integration with the building's design. Positioned strategically, the mural commands attention and enhances the architectural landscape with its dynamic presence.
Major shout out to the entire Kremer team who made this collaboration possible and swift!
Fall 2021 - Columbus, Indiana
(34ft x 120ft)
Mural produced alongside LAA Office and Columbus Area Arts Council. Columbus is a city with a dense array of historic architecture. The city itself takes immense pride in highlighting their archtiectural wonders.
When tasked with collaborating on a ground and wall mural project for Columbus’ 6th Street area, LAA Office and Nick engaged in many discussions as to what this might look like. Then it was decided jointly, to craft geometric murals that speak to the city’s architecture as well as highlights the unique nature of the International Order of the Oddfellows building of which Nick’s mural was directly apply to.
Upon completion, the 6th Street Arts Alley has become a place for a wide breadth of the community to come together, all while enjoying the freshly painted murals. There are community events with food trucks, live music, every month, where 6th Street is shut down for vehicle traffic, but open to the public for enjoyment.
This project was featured by This x That, a progressive architecture agency based in Los Angeles, CA. It might well garner other architectural community engagement awards in the coming future.
Big thank you to LAA Office for the initiation to collaboration this awesome project, as well as Columbus Area Arts Council, Exhibit Columbus, Liz, Tad Fruits, Courtney, Louis Joyner and all others who were integral to make this project happen.
Summer 2025 – Washington D.C.
16.5×65 ft
Following the Washington, D.C. UMBRELLA Art Fair, Nick Abstract was invited to design a large-scale mural for the rear exterior of a private residence just outside the city. The home’s striking architecture—defined by raw concrete and bold geometry—offered a natural fit for Nick’s abstract language, leading to an effortless creative dialogue between artist and client.
Early conversations revealed a shared admiration for the Russian avant-garde artist El Lissitzky, particularly his Proun series. Inspired by this reference point, Nick created a composition rooted in spatial tension and visual balance, substituting Lissitzky’s soft circular motifs with sharper, hourglass-inspired forms that gesture toward the passage of time. A deconstructed “P” is also embedded into the work, functioning as both a formal anchor and a quiet conceptual nod.
Now spanning the full height of the home’s concrete façade, the mural transforms the surrounding pool and gallery area into an immersive visual experience. In tandem with the piece, the clients also acquired two original canvases from Nick’s Planetary Neighbors series, continuing a dialogue between interior and exterior space.
This project reflects Nick’s ability to integrate abstraction with architectural nuance—resulting in a site-specific work that feels at once precise, poetic, and personal.
Fall 2023 - Columbus, Indiana
(35ft x 95ft)
Mural title: Take Flight
Nick was selected by the Landscape, Art & Architecture Office (LAA Office) and the Columbus Municipal Airport to produce a vibrant mural at Columbus Propeller in Indiana. The mural project was part of a larger initiative to beautify the exterior of the makerspace and innovation center. Drawing inspiration from aviation and Columbus' architectural heritage, Nick crafted geometric murals that resonated with the city's unique character.
Once completed, the murals became a focal point and wayfinding for the Columbus Propeller building on the Columbus Municipal Airport campus.
This project garnered attention from This x That, a progressive architecture agency based in Los Angeles, CA, and is poised to receive further recognition within the architectural community. Nick extends his gratitude to LAA Office, the Columbus Area Arts Council, Triflix Video/photo, and all those who contributed to making these projects in columbus a success.
Summer 2020 - Rensselaer
(20ft x 50ft)
Smith was directly commissioned to produce a custom mural for the town of Rensselaer, Indiana for the Rensselaer Art Walk in the summer of 2020.

Mural Collaboration with DKGR and Garamong for Matchbook Learning's Newest Building at 16th and Rembrand St, Downtown Indianapolis
This mural design incorporates subtle motifs from the Matchbook branding book, featuring arrows and complementary colors. It seamlessly integrates Nick's signature geometric visual language, interacting with the existing architecture and providing leading lines to all school entrances. Regardless of your position along the mural, the lines and shapes guide you toward the entry points, symbolizing the journey of education. Each shape, on its unique path, represents the upward progression and improvement inherent in the educational process.
A heartfelt thank you to DKGR, Garamong, Matchbook, JD Bills, Brad Driver, and all others involved in bringing this project to life. Your assistance and collaboration have been invaluable and greatly appreciated.
Spring 2021 - Indianapolis
(27ft x 95ft)
The Coil reached out to Nick to produce a mural for their courtyard area. The area is full of beautiful exterior seating and shade portions, but their blank grey concrete wall was in need of some shine.
Concepting with their team, resulting in a tenant vote on three designs, the one below was chosen and installed early spring 2021.
Shapes and colors are informed by the nearby Broad Ripple canal waterway, as well as warm summer sunsets and the nearby streets of Broad Ripple.
Wine nights and more events are held near this space now at The Coil and the mural has meshed with their community well.
“For years we were looking for a way to liven up our outdoor courtyard within our multifamily apartment community.
We stumbled across Nick Abstract’s work within the community and were drawn to the clean lines and modern aesthetic he achieved through each of his pieces. From the first contact, we were immediately impressed with his professionalism and eagerness for our project. There was clear communication throughout the entire process, but we were blown away by how smoothly and efficiently he worked all the way from the contract & design phase to the actual application.
Our expectations were 100% exceeded when we saw our completed mural – we weren’t prepared for the level of flawlessness that was delivered to us. He even left the entire courtyard cleaner than when he arrived, which was just the cherry on top of the already premier service we had received. We want to build more walls just to have him here again! 11/10.” - Brianna Fritts (The Coil)

Mural produced for SPOT, a third party logistics provider who specializes in customized logistics solutions.
SPOT has a strong focus on freight motion, tracking, adjustments, and precision. These were all chosen as the basis of which to ground the mural design. Strong emphasis within the design is on forward movement, upward progression, and speedy linework.
Each SPOT HQ is highlighted within the mural as a detail as well. As SPOT grows towards other cities, more HQ’s can be added onto the mural.
Extra thank you to Gabrielle Amstutz & Spot team, Ziad for filming, Courtney for support, and all others who were integral to make this project happen.
Summer 2025 – Franklin, Indiana
(~1,360 sq ft intersection + crosswalks)
Nick Abstract was invited by the City of Franklin and the Franklin Public Art Advisory Commission to lead the design and execution of a bold intersection mural in the heart of Franklin’s cultural district. This project, located at Monroe and Jackson Streets, aimed to serve both as a traffic-calming measure and a celebration of the pedestrian-heavy corridor leading into Youngs Creek Park and the amphitheater.
Nick worked closely with Community Development Specialist Dana Monson over a two-year period, exploring multiple concepts and installation approaches before landing on a final design and long-term implementation strategy. The mural spills beyond the core intersection, reaching into the surrounding streets and echoing the flow of foot traffic and festival energy that defines downtown Franklin.
Thanks to the expert assistance of the Franklin Street Department, the mural was installed using a highly durable, heat-treated material—ensuring it will endure vehicle traffic and weather for many years to come.
Nick is grateful to the entire Franklin community for their support and collaboration. It was an honor to lead the creative vision for such a thoughtful and community-driven project.
2019 - Midwest Suprematism
(Superior Carpet Installation Mural)
130ft x 22ft
The design of this mural is inspired by geometric Barn Quilts, Barn Architecture, as well as prairie-scapes that Smith grew up seeing around the countryside in Indiana. Farming is an essential element of what makes Midwestern U.S. society what it is today. A modernized abstract mural with a subtle nod to Indiana's Agricultural past seemed right up the client’s alley. Smith sent the client the design, and after two long and scorching weekends up and down on the lift, the mural was installed. (With the help of a small team: his girlfriend, two of Nick’s buddies, and his father) Big thank you as well to the Superior Carpet Installation team for believing in Smith’s vision for the wall and commissioning the work.

Mural Collaboration with DKGR and Garamong for Matchbook Learning’s 1401 Building on Indiana Avenue
This series of murals brings Nick Abstract’s signature geometric design style to the 1401 building, incorporating sharp angles, directional lines, and layered compositions that echo elements from the Matchbook brand. Each wall is designed to create a sense of motion and energy—symbolizing educational momentum while helping guide students, families, and staff toward key entry points.
Drawing on color cues and motif references from the Matchbook branding system, the abstract forms represent growth, transformation, and forward progress. Together, these murals help define the visual identity of the Indiana Avenue Matchbook corridor and complete a multi-phase transformation across the campus.
A big thank you to DKGR, Garamong, Ameresco, and the Matchbook team for their continued trust and collaboration on this evolving project.
After purchasing my 2017 KTM 250 EXC-F, I took the initiative to update its graphics to reflect a more contemporary aesthetic. Drawing inspiration from the sleek designs of the 2023-2024 KTM SX and XC bike lines, I meticulously crafted custom CTG decals tailored to my bike. By blending elements from these current models with my own artistic vision, I successfully infused my 2017 model with a fresh, modern look.
To ensure authenticity and alignment with Kiska/KTM's design ethos, I curated a mood board featuring graphics from 2010-2024 KTM models. Deciding which elements I felt were successful vs ones that have since faded away in terms of trends. This enabled me to select elements that resonated with KTM's design language while maintaining a cohesive and updated appearance for my bike.
Summer 2020 - Indianapolis
(25ft x 90ft)
Nick was recently commissioned to paint the southern facade of the Indy Hound building in Downtown Indianapolis. This project was a blast, took about 6 days from start to finish and was produced amid a hot sunny day streak in the Midwest. The design is inspired by architecture, movement of cities, and urban infrastructure through Smith’s own perceptions.
Special thank you to Alex, Jackson, Courtney, Chris, Alex from Indy Hound, and all others who took part in the whole project.

Smith was directly commissioned to produce a custom mural for the new owners of the Bovaconti building in Fountain Square, Indianapolis.
Bovaconti Coffee takes up residence in a historic building once referred to as the Bovaconti Jewelers building, Bovaconti Coffee restored many of the elements from the 1850s. History matters to them, and every detail of their coffee bar from the interior design, to the menu, to the mural design was chosen to help create an atmosphere where guests want to gather and stay awhile.
The mural design features color blocks and linework reminiscent of diamond cutting, with diamondlike prisms spanning the width of the building facade. Razer sharp linework connects customers to each entrance while also pointing upward to the Bovaconti star logo mark.
Aloft Ft. Lauderdale – Conceptual Mural Design
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
While visiting Ft. Lauderdale on vacation, Nick Abstract couldn’t help but notice the striking, unadorned facade of the Aloft Hotel—a prime architectural opportunity within the Marriott portfolio. The clean lines and verticality of the building sparked a vision: a large-format mural that could transform the structure into a vibrant visual landmark.
Upon returning home, Nick created this conceptual design as a speculative proposal—bringing his signature geometric abstraction to life in a context that merges art, architecture, and environment. Warm, sun-washed tones flow through the composition alongside deep Florida blues that blend seamlessly into the beachside skyline, creating a narrative that reflects the region’s coastal energy and tropical vibrancy.
Though this is not a commissioned mural, it reflects Nick’s approach to designing impactful, large-scale artwork for hospitality brands, modern developments, and high-rise facades. The concept is fully executable and adaptable for hotel or residential towers seeking bold identity through public art.
Summer 2022 - Rensselaer, IN. USA
(150ft x 10ft)
Nick was asked to come back for another annual REN ART WLK in Rensselaer, Indiana. This time, instead of painting a wall, like the previous year, the task at hand was to work with volunteers and other team members to produce an streetscape ground mural.
The mural spans the length of 150ft, and features the signature blues & oranges that have become iconic of Nick’s visual language.
10+ local volunteers from within the community assisted in the blistering heat on the hot asphalt to produce the mural alongside Abstract.
Extra thank you to Ryan Preston, Cameron, the whole town of Rensselaer, all the other fine artists who were involved in the REN ART WLK festival.

Exterior banner mural produced for 747 Apartments/Nolan Red. The aim of this project was to provide a stark pop of vibrancy to the otherwise plain southern wall on the 747 Apartment structure. Magentas and blues dance across the banner engaging a wide array of passersby through stop traffic on College Ave. Other aspects of the 747 Apartments will be color matched to the same tones as the banner mural for further consistency.
The Northern facing wall is next in line to get a similar banner graphic from Nick Abstract within the coming months.

Nick Abstract was commissioned by Indianapolis residents Jeni and Jeff Christoffersen to create a custom mural that adds a unique, artistic element to their home’s poolside space. This design, which combines Nick's signature abstract geometric angles, compliments the surrounding décor and harmonizes with the home’s interior and exterior colors.
The mural subtly incorporates the characters “F” and “221,” a nod to the home’s address and a meaningful symbol of the life Jeni and Jeff have built there. This personalized touch makes the artwork a true extension of the home itself, celebrating both the space and the time the couple spends there in the summer. Nick feels honored to have contributed to this personal retreat and hopes the mural remains a cherished backdrop for their gatherings and relaxation for years to come.
Summer 2022 - Indianapolis, IN. USA

Mural produced for Window to the World, a new redevelopment of the previous Lafayette Square Mall on the city’s Northwest corner.
When the Window to the World team reached out to Nick about doing a mural, they mentioned that the site exists within one of the most diverse areas in the inner city. They selected the “Window to the World” namesake to reflect their goal of sharing multiple cultures via food, retail, etc. within their development.
Nick’s main goal with the mural design was to approach the idea of diversity through color. Color means a great deal to people. Official country flags, football/soccer team jerseys, or architecture styles all lend themselves to certain colorways as identifiers of a certain place.
The mural design is an explosion of “culture through color” radiating from within the “W” logo. Scale is an important element to this mural as well. Some lines within the work are 50+ ft in length from start to finish. This provides an otherworldly sense of awe, and dynamism to the way passersby interact with the work.
“Painting this was a dream. Massive lines. Sweeping shapes of angular momentum… It was an all around good experience and I hope the mural lives on for years to come, inspiring people, and engaging those with a curious mind. Thank you to the Sojos team for making sure we were safe out there while painting and taken care of. Extra thank you to Jackson Tooley for the production assistance with this mural. My girlfriend Courtney for helping out with our new puppy back home while I painted this.
Thank you to Fabio/Rachel/Fernando/Carla/Daniela and others from the Sojos team for making this unique project happen. Can’t wait to see where this development goes in the next few years.” - Nick

Carmel Mural Concept – Architectural Integration
Carmel, Indiana
This conceptual mural was designed for a site in Carmel, Indiana, and explores the dialogue between surface and structure. Minimalist in execution but expansive in intent, the artwork uses spatial geometry to reflect and accentuate the architecture—specifically engaging with the glassless window cutout that connects to the elevated walkway above.
Nick Abstract’s signature visual language plays with perspective here, drawing the eye through the composition and into the building’s own forms. Rather than overpowering the space, the design frames and elevates the site’s unique structural features—creating a mural that feels seamlessly embedded within the environment.
While not yet realized, the concept showcases Nick’s approach to working with architecture, not just on it—an idea especially suited for civic, cultural, or mixed-use developments looking to activate their façades in a way that feels both bold and considered.
Concrete Library – Conceptual Rendering
This mural concept, titled Concrete Library, is designed for a brutalist structure, showcasing Nick Abstract’s signature geometric abstraction style. Brutalism’s massive concrete forms provide an ideal canvas for muralism, particularly Nick’s designs, which complement the bold, angular architecture. The interplay between the structure and the artwork creates a dynamic, cohesive visual experience reminiscent of razzle dazzle camouflage, drawing the viewer’s eye while transforming the space.
This Photoshop rendering serves as a tool to visualize the potential impact of Nick’s murals, helping to shop ideas around to clients and demonstrate how his work can energize and redefine monumental spaces.

Smith is slated to produce an exterior mural on the building as well in the near future.
Decatur Elementary School Banner Murals
Nick Abstract designed five banner murals for Decatur Elementary School, intended to be displayed throughout the district. Drawing inspiration from the themes of space and dynamic shapes, the banners breathe life into previously bare walls. Each piece reflects the school’s color palette, creating a cohesive and vibrant connection to the environment. These artworks celebrate creativity and exploration, while adding a bold, contemporary aesthetic to the school’s visual identity.

Reaching higher and higher is an aspect of work that the client, NCW, and Nick Abstract both strive for. The mural design is no exception, with large shapes aiming upward and text reading, “Going Beyond,” this wall is sure to catch eyes.
This is the first exterior Broad Ripple mural for Nick Abstract in Indianapolis and certainly not the last. NCW is a wonderful company that staffs the hardest working folks around.
Large, clean, and impressive linework had to be a feature of this mural. Each line points upward to inspire new generations of artists, creatives, and community members.
“Big thanks to NCW and the wonderful folks who put this project together. Extra thank you to my girl Courtney for the assistance on this too!! Crushed it. Much love y’all!” - Nick
Winter 2023
Nick Abstract created two interior murals for Bier Brewery’s original location on 65th Street in Indianapolis. Completed during a comprehensive refresh of the space, these murals play a pivotal role in redefining the storefront’s atmosphere. As the heart of the brewery’s public-facing operations, this area sets the tone for their new development, while the brewing itself takes place in the back of the building. The murals blend Nick’s signature geometric style with elements inspired by the brewery’s vibrant identity, offering patrons a fresh and dynamic visual experience.
Winter 2023 - Irvington, IN. USA
(6ft x 4ft)
Mural produced in honor of Hannah Crutchfield.
“On September 14, 2021 the George W. Julian School #57 community endured a tragedy. While walking home from school, a mother, daughter, and crossing guard were hit by a car. Hannah, who was 7 years old and in 1st grade at George W. Julian, did not survive. We all feel the loss of her sweet soul.
George W. Julian School #57 is a small neighborhood public school that serves students K-8 in Irvington, on the east side of Indianapolis. A group of students, while processing their trauma and grief, had the idea of giving the school playground a makeover to make it more fun and cheerful in honor of Hannah. Perhaps, with this project, the memory of Hannah can live on in a place where she enjoyed playing with her big sister and fellow students after school. “ -IPS HONORING HANNAH
When asked to be involved in this project it was a no brainer. Robin Long-Jordan reached out mentioning a mural component to the playground makeover in honor of a sweet little girl named Hannah. Getting the opportunity to meet Hannah’s mother and other community members cemented how much of a responsibility it is to produce this mural in conjunction with the school.
Students were involved in the design process and were asked to vote on their favorite design and colors for the mural. Upon completion and installation, it was wonderful to see all of the kiddos enjoying the new playground and crying out with joy. Hannah lives on in the smiles of all those who enjoy this space for years to come.
Much love. Spread love. And be kind.
Summer 2021 - Broad Ripple Indianapolis

Milhaus reached out to Nick to design, facilitate, and install a mural onto a wall façade along a massive parking area. Due to the scale of the wall(s), minimalist geometric abstraction was an efficient solution for the space to engage and compliment the nearby architecture of the development.
Nick has been in discussions with Milhaus for projects in the past, and has been excited to partake in a project with them as they have a reputation for being an innovative developer. Like Nick, they’re creative, forward-thinking. When this opportunity to collaborate with them on this extremely long building design came about, both parties were ecstatic to get the ball rolling.
Colourway is informed by overall AYR/Milhaus brand palette, with subtle nods to Indianapolis recognizable colors. Deep blues, vibrant yellows, etc. Overall composition and linework based roughly off of nearby shadows casted on the wall structure during odd hours of the day in different summer months. Hues and shapes nod to the subtle architectural intricacies at the development. From furniture design, to décor. Studying the site mockups and concepts prior to install helped inform the design greatly.
This was Nick’s longest (ft) mural to date and was an immense experience from start to finish. Both complex and lengthy, the task was interesting amid very hot summer months.
Tenants of AYR now enjoy this mural entering and exiting the living premises on a daily basis. Mural can be seen along Rural Street as well.
This project reimagines a 2017 KTM 250 EXC-F with a full visual overhaul, aligning it with the sharp, modern aesthetic of KTM’s 2025 offroad lineup. The plastics were swapped for all-orange bodywork to match the new generation’s aggressive styling, and a custom graphic kit was designed from the ground up to tie it all together.
From front fender to rear panel, every line and angle was considered to give the bike a cohesive, factory-fresh presence—bridging the gap between performance heritage and contemporary design. The end result is a head-turning machine that feels right at home next to any brand-new 2025 model.
“Sunshift – Residential Mural Concept”
This conceptual mural explores the interplay of light, form, and architecture on a modern residential facade. Designed as a speculative installation, Sunshift integrates warm earth tones and sun-faded neutrals to echo the building’s wood and stucco materials. The geometric composition activates the home’s crisp, cantilevered structure while enhancing natural shadows and perspective lines throughout the day.
Using sharp angles and softened gradients, the piece creates a dynamic visual rhythm that celebrates the home's modern design without overpowering it. Though unbuilt, this concept illustrates Nick Abstract’s approach to elevating architectural surfaces with artwork that feels intentional, integrated, and spatially aware.
Abstract Prairie Wholecar – Train Mural
In 2019, Nick Abstract and two of his closest friends painted this "wholecar" train mural, an uncommissioned artwork inspired by the vast, flat prairies of central Canada. Drawing from the landscapes of Alberta and Saskatchewan, the piece uses abstract forms and colors to evoke the essence of the region without direct representation. This dynamic mural has been rolling steadily across North America since its creation, bringing a touch of the Canadian prairies to countless communities along its journey.
Summer 2022 - South Bend, Indiana
(18ft x 45ft)
Nick was invited out to the first ever Mural Mania in South Bend, Indiana. Curated and run by the ever so talented Alex Ann Allen.
The following mural was installed along the east facing wall of The Garage Arcade Bar near the river. Hints within the design are derived from studying classic arcade gaming aesthetics, as well as introducing some angular dynamism to the composition.
Featured top right is The Garage’s “G” logo, along with the adjacent “South Bend” graffiti script. The overall mural was completed in 2 days time, with just enough time to see the city proper.
Extra thank you to Michael, Willow, Alex, and the rest of the Mural Mania collaborators and team.
Helm Coffee Roaster – Conceptual Rendering
This mural concept for Helm Coffee Roaster in Garfield Park, Indianapolis, builds on Nick Abstract’s ongoing collaboration with the brand. After designing Helm Coffee’s first packaging and painting the white exterior signage, Nick envisioned this bold design to wrap the entire building. Inspired by the distinctive patterning from Helm Coffee’s branding, the mural integrates their visual identity into the space in a dynamic and engaging way. This mockup serves to showcase the potential transformation, with the project anticipated to kick off in 2025. This concept reflects Nick’s dedication to creating art that complements and amplifies a brand’s character.
This project involves a mural commissioned for NBA House during the All-Star 2024 game in Indianapolis. Serving as a stage backdrop within the Helium Comedy Club, the mural adds a vibrant touch to the space. Nick was directly commissioned by US Olympian Jillion Potter to produce the design, label system, and layout for her newest project, Helm Coffee.
Helm Coffee is an LGBTQ+ women-owned coffee roaster located in Indianapolis, IN. They strongly believe in spreading the love of great coffee through kindness and connection, and the bag design aims to parallel this approach.
Each coffee is differentiated by a new Label color, and the overall design system stays consistent. All linework wraps around the entirety of the bag, drawing perspectives to the back with Helm’s mission statement and social channels.
Go show Helm some love.

After collaborating with Adventure Daily, I designed custom graphics for their bike, focusing on maintaining the dark colorway they wanted to achieve. To make the KTM stand out, I utilized unorthodox color selections that diverge from traditional KTM palettes, infusing the bike with a unique flair.
This design embodies my well-known geometric aesthetic and visual language, creating a striking and modern look. By blending these bold colors and shapes, I successfully transformed the bike’s appearance, ensuring it captures attention both on and off the trails.
Helm Coffee Roaster – Interior and Exterior Murals
Nick Abstract painted the interior space of Helm Coffee Roaster, creating a vibrant, meditative design featuring Helm’s iconic yellow colorway and abstract stripes. The mural provides the perfect backdrop for studying, yoga classes, and coffee enthusiasts to enjoy. Outside, Nick painted the large white Helm logo, making a bold statement on the building’s exterior, with the same logo appearing inside in striking blue. These designs reflect the spirit of Helm Coffee, founded by Jillion—a U.S. Olympian and cancer survivor—whose resilience and hard work are paralleled by the bold, dynamic aesthetic of the space.
Curated by Polina Osherov at Pattern Inc. and commissioned by Pattern and The Stutz, this mural by Nick Abstract was created as part of the landmark redevelopment of the historic Stutz building in downtown Indianapolis. Originally built in 1912 to manufacture Stutz automobiles, the 441,000-square-foot complex was reimagined by national developer SomeraRoad, with a $100 million investment transforming it into a modern live-work-play destination.
Installed in a coworking space on the building’s first floor, the mural introduces quiet energy and visual rhythm to the environment. Its minimalist composition draws inspiration from racing stripes—subtle references to the building’s automotive past—flowing softly through the hallway without overpowering the collaborative workspace.
The color palette was selected to reflect The Stutz’s heritage tones, while also integrating seamlessly with the building’s refreshed interior palette, signage, and overall spatial design. The piece adds a thoughtful, contemporary layer to the historic site, helping bridge legacy and innovation within the broader Opportunity Zone development.
This project exemplifies Nick’s ability to create custom, site-aware artworks that support larger architectural and cultural narratives.
Summer 2023 – Rensselaer, Indiana
Best of Show Winner at REN ART WLK Art Battle
As part of the REN ART WLK’s Art Battle, Nick Abstract joined over ten talented artists in a live painting competition held in the heart of Rensselaer, Indiana. Each artist was tasked with creating a unique piece of art on-site and in front of community spectators, who then voted to determine the winner of "Best of Show."
Staying true to his roots, Nick created a vibrant graffiti-inspired piece, showcasing the bold, dynamic style that has defined his career. While many competitors opted for depictions of animals and nature, Nick’s unapologetically authentic approach resonated with the audience, earning him the top prize and an additional cash award.
The victory underscored the community’s appreciation for diverse artistic styles and Nick’s ability to connect with audiences through his mastery of graffiti. He expresses his gratitude to the organizers, fellow artists, and the Rensselaer community for their enthusiasm and support during this unforgettable event.
Five Iron Golf Murals – Indianapolis, IN (October 2023)
In October 2023, Nick Abstract was commissioned by Fillin Global, an art curation firm, to create a series of murals for Five Iron Golf's new indoor simulation facility in Indianapolis. Collaborating with artists Kwazar Martin and Jason Naylor, Nick brought his signature geometric style to life across five murals within the space.
The artwork incorporates Five Iron’s bold color palette, featuring dynamic geometric shapes, subtle nods to golf iconography like golf balls and motion-inspired motifs, and cosmic elements such as stars and bursts of energy. The murals work cohesively across the facility, enhancing the space with vibrance and movement, while contributing to the facility’s unique, electric atmosphere.
Nick's murals merge color, energy, and subtle storytelling, elevating the visitor experience and infusing the space with creativity and excitement.
Winter 2023 - Indianapolis, IN. USA
(Fully custom 2014 Kawasaki KLX250s Dual Sport/Dirt Bike)
Backstory:
“When I was a little kid, I always wanted a dirt bike. I saw Supercross on TV and played dirt bike video games and just thought anyone riding a dirt bike was coolest ever. My parents saw my wild energy and preemptively said no to a dirt bike. They instead said yes to avoiding surgeries and doctor visits for me breaking bones. (Though I still managed to break a few playing other sports. LOL) Nonetheless, my dream of riding a dirt bike never materialized…
Until late in 2022, I stumbled upon a podcast talking about early 2000’s motocross and the different types of bikes. I also began asking a bit more questions aimed at my high school buddy who owned a dirt bike (Dual Sport) that he uses as his daily driver.
All of the sudden, I had become re-infatuated with dirt bikes, and motocross, and started watching and re-learning a lot. After many Facebook marketplace searches and digging, I pulled the trigger. I bought myself, with my own hard earned cash, a Kawasaki KLX250. I LEGIT never thought this would ever happen.
Soon enough, I began wrenching on it weekly with my friend Mac and ended up really enjoying the process. What started as a desire to ride, kicked off me making this dirt bike into a full-on art project.
I custom designed/altered almost everything visible. The engine remains relatively untouched. But custom graphics were designed and installed by me, new pegs, new tires, new bar/grips, and much much more. It has been a greasy labor of love.
I had a few family members and friends who saw my new passion for this machine and they wanted to help out too on the build. Extra thank you to Courtney, Chelsea, Chris, Derek, Pat, Jen, Ellen, Nikhil, Mom, Dad, Mac and all others who entertained this crazy idea and offered words of advice or specialty to make this slow bike look faster than hell.
I started this art journey painting murals, now I’m covered in grease designing dirt bike plastic panel graphics. Things are strange how they play out. But here we are, two wheels down and not lookin’ back. Hope you enjoy. See ya on the trails.”

Winter 2023 - Fishers, Indiana
(20ft x 75ft)
Mural produced for Young President’s Organization (Indiana Chamber of Commerce) event space.
This mural was a collaboration with my good friend Alex Ann Allen from South Bend, whom I’ve worked with before on some projects. It was a blessing to work together and we both did out unique styles in a complex and interweaving way. Excited to see the lights turn off and this mural become the backdrop for their events.
Extra thank you to thank you to Cameron Moberg and the rest of the team for the connection and assist on this.
Spring 2025 – Indianapolis, Indiana
3 Custom T-Shirt Designs for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
In collaboration with Legends Global Merchandise and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Nick Abstract was commissioned to create three original T-shirt designs celebrating the culture, speed, and spirit of IMS.
Each design channels a different part of Nick’s creative approach—from sharp graphic layouts to expressive graffiti lettering—bringing a contemporary edge to the Speedway’s official apparel line. One standout piece features full-color front and back prints with clean white racing stripes across the shoulders, merging motorsport aesthetics with Nick’s lifelong connection to graffiti and street culture.
Released ahead of the 2025 Indy 500, all three shirts were made available at every major race shop on-site, as well as through the IMS online store. The collaboration offered Nick a chance to blend two of his core passions—racing and design—into work that lives at the intersection of fandom and identity.
Special thanks to the IMS and Legends teams for the opportunity and creative trust.

Conceptual mural design for Ardmore in Indianapolis.
Design Rationale: Ardmore is an exciting, sharp, and energetic place for Indianapolis and this mural design is no exception. The angular forms are inspired by Ardmore's shadows and architecture with subtle nods to the racing background of Indianapolis via an abstracted checkered flag. Warm and cool tones react to the sunlight that shines through the eastern window facades.

This custom livery was designed for the Stovall #54 Porsche GT3 Cup car in the iRacing simulation platform. Blending high-performance motorsport energy with a refined abstract aesthetic, the design brings Nick Abstract’s signature geometric style into the world of virtual racing.
The car features a layered composition of olive, charcoal, and off-white tones, wrapped in bold, angular movement that gives the vehicle a distinct identity on the digital grid. Integrated sponsor elements, number placement, and a custom rear wing graphic stamped with Nick Abstract elevate the design further. A scannable QR code on the rear fender links directly to Nick’s full portfolio—bridging digital motorsports with real-world creative practice.
Big thanks to Stovall for bringing Nick into this project and trusting him to shape the visual direction of his iRacing GT3 machine.
This project highlights Nick’s ability to translate large-scale design thinking into new formats, applying his visual language across industries—from murals and branding to motorsports and digital racing environments.

Fall 2019 - Indianapolis
(150x60ft)
This building has received a lot of hate in the past few years from an architectural standpoint. Brutalist/Soviet-esque architecture often is given a bad wrap. This building is often referred to as "the ugliest building in the city" by some locals. On a recent stroll along Mass Ave, Nick ended up looking up to see a side of this building he hadn't ever seen before. His mind went racing with concepts and colors to add to the stunning wall shape/structure. This post is a concept mock-up of what Smith feels would be a positive artistic contribution to this building facade.
Hopefully a budget for this wall could be instated to install this mural along the northern facade one day.
Spring 2020 - Indianapolis
(12ft x 65ft)
Smith was commissioned by Rightway Automotive to produce an angular mural utilizing their brand colors. Angled next to a busy intersection, this mural sees a tremendous amount of daily traffic on the southeastern side of Indianapolis. Customers drop their keys into the “Drop box” on the front door of this structure, and the mural concept angles toward these substrates do that customers “interact” in a way with the mural itself.
Summer 2020 - West Allis, Wisconsin, USA
Paint on Concrete
(75ft x 23ft)
This mural design was for the West Allis Wallpapered City Project. West Allis is a vibrant place with focused individuals, and Smith wanted to reflect the vibrant vibe of the location with contrasting tones, experimental typography, and sharp angles.
A different artist was selected for the project, as this was an “Open Call” project, though Smith stated “Open calls are great even if I’m not selected because it gives me a chance to do another design and learn more about a new place.”
This mural design was also produced to show the connective nature between art and architecture. Angular forms expand across the substrate inspired by topographical maps and architectural structures in the nearby area.

Simon Keystone Fashion Mall – Proposed Mural Concept
This proposed mural concept reimagines the north-facing bridge wall of the Simon Keystone Fashion Mall, introducing a bold and dynamic visual identity to the space. Designed by Nick Abstract, the mural features his signature bright geometric shapes, sprawling across the large-scale surface to create an engaging and energetic focal point for visitors.
The design aims to enhance wayfinding and contribute to the area’s placemaking, cementing the mall’s presence within the Fashion District. By transforming an otherwise unremarkable facade, the mural would elevate the aesthetic appeal of the space while reinforcing the district’s role as a destination for style, creativity, and community.
This concept represents an opportunity for large-scale public artwork to merge functionality with artistic expression, creating a lasting impression on visitors and solidifying the visual identity of the Keystone Fashion District.
Vital Forms – Healthcare Mural Concept
Downtown Indianapolis
This conceptual mural was created as an exploration of how large-format art can bring warmth, identity, and human connection to the sterile exteriors often found on hospital buildings. Designed for a healthcare setting in downtown Indianapolis, Vital Forms aims to activate the blank architectural canvas with a composition that balances professionalism and precision with the organic, unpredictable nature of human life.
The mural uses abstract geometric forms—clean yet expressive—to reflect the structure and order of medical systems, while fluid overlays and unexpected intersections nod to the complexities of healing, emotion, and personal journeys. The result is a visual language that feels both grounded and uplifting, offering patients, staff, and visitors a moment of calm engagement and visual relief.
Though uncommissioned, this mockup reflects Nick Abstract’s ongoing interest in how public art can support environments of care, transforming them from purely functional spaces into more welcoming, human-centered experiences.

NUMERALS: Abstract Series II
2019 - Midwest USA
24in x 36in
“NUMERALS” are an abstract print design series. One of the prime focuses with these works was looking at historic aspects of Numeral Systems in the world. Numbers and typography are all around us everyday, on our phones, and in our minds. Nick began these works questioning where these numerical and typographical languages originated. He also pondered the cultural significance they carry through history. Roman Numerals specifically fascinated Nick, as Roman numerals are extremely old, yet still find their way into modern culture from time to time in stark stylistic fashion. Nick wanted to utilize the ancient roman numeral system in these futuristic abstractions.
Smith often considers his work, “an up close view of a futuristic space craft, of sorts,” and these pieces are no exception. Pulling from his vibrant and chaotically precise graffiti stylings, these pieces are a more mature take on the abstract structures Smith has frequented. He selected color palettes from interior design, aged roman structures, and obscure neutral/fadded paint colors.

2019 - Fountain Square (Fletcher Avenue), Indianapolis, IN, USA
Nick and Ziloe were commissioned by a house flipper in the area to apply a modern spin on a large 1800’s brick wall garage section. In quick succession, both suited up and got to work as contractors were finishing up the home next to the wall. This wall face is approximately 13ft tall x 20 ft wide.
Within the home’s interior, there are sharp angular archways in some rooms that accent the angular architecture of the home’s roof. Nick and Ziloe wanted to reflect the angular form that made the home unique within the mural itself. The home’s exterior, and old timey doors inside the home feature subtle, and bold blues. The duo chose to tie the color theme of the mural to these elements as well.
Client, and neighborhood nearby were pleased with the result.

OUT HERE: Abstract Collection
2019 - Indiana USA
24in x 36in
“Out Here” is an abstract artwork collection. Each piece is inspired by Nick’s hometown in Indiana. Indiana is often referred to as a flyover state, with not much to it but corn, football, and flat fields. To Smith, Indiana is where he grew up, and is where his memories and experiences live. Each piece in this collection utilizes color palettes pulled from actual photographs Smith took of his hometown east of Indianapolis in the cornfields.
Smith aims to create engaging works by utilizing abstract skills he learned through his graffiti practice, combined with lessons from his professional schooling in Digital Design. “Out here” is no exception. To those who may consider Indiana a sleeper boring flyover state, he aims to prove you wrong with this explosive collection.

Alpha/Beta : Alphabet Abstraction Series
2018 - Midwest USA
This is one of Smith’s first major abstraction sets. There are 26 total pieces in this set, with colors and themes ranging from deep outer space, to bright neon rave settings.
During Smith’s preliminary research during his university schooling for Design, he went through design history courses which taught the historical aspects of typography and design. In addition to the evolution of these disciplines, Smith also payed close attention to its parallels in graffiti’s typographic evolution. Lettering, color theory, standard design principles, and typography all fascinate Smith. His main goal with these pieces was to present a merger between the graffiti world, fine art world, and design world in a manner that could be visually intriguing to all audiences.

Painted during the Nickel Plate Arts District Artist Fair in Fishers, IN.
Winter 2020 - Indianapolis
(24ft x 80ft)
Smith was directly commissioned to produce a custom mural for Onyx & East & Marika Harvey in Indianapolis.
This design was planned as an homage to the state bird of Indiana, the Cardinal, as well as aimed at providing the nearby community with a positive phrase to enjoy their day alongside.
Wildstyle graffiti lettering is placed beside the cardinal in the words, “Stay - True”. Smith’s background in art is with style writing and graffiti so this was a great mural for him to flex his knowledge set in that discipline as well as take a stab at rendering a fully realistic animal.
Nearby tenants to the building now enjoy seeing the mural as they depart and arrive back at their homeplace from work.
Noon Rock Pizza – Landscape Mural
As part of the Homescapes Mural Tour, Nick Abstract and Mitch Babin painted a breathtaking mural for Noon Rock Pizza in Dubois, Wyoming. The crowdfunded tour focused on highlighting local landscapes in rural agricultural towns across the USA and Canada. This mural captures the iconic RamsHorn Mountain, a stunning natural landmark visible from the pizza shop. While in Dubois, the team also painted a small advertisement for the local ACE Hardware, incorporating Wyoming’s dramatic landscape into the design. The Noon Rock Pizza mural stands out as the best landscape piece of the entire tour, making Dubois a memorable stop.
Summer 2023 – Rensselaer, Indiana
Graffiti-Inspired Mural for REN ART WLK
Commissioned for the REN ART WLK in Rensselaer, Indiana, this mural celebrates the convergence of traditional mural artistry and graffiti culture. Curated by Cameron Moberg of Camer1SF and Talking Walls Art, the project invited Nick Abstract to showcase his roots in graffiti art while exploring a dynamic blend of styles.
The mural features two photorealistic birds set against a vibrant, abstract background, incorporating Nick’s signature geometric elements. At the heart of the piece is his graffiti moniker, "Sean," rendered in bold lettering that honors his beginnings in graffiti as a starting point for his large-format artworks that later became his signature geometric style.
This project highlights Rensselaer's embrace of diverse artistic expressions and serves as a tribute to the transformative power of street art. Nick expresses gratitude to Cameron Moberg and Talking Walls Art for fostering a creative space that allowed him to merge his artistic styles and share his vision with the community.
2018 - St. Louis, Missouri, USA
Nick and Ziloe were asked to participate in the Paint Louis 2018 event in St. Louis, MO. Upon doing some brainstorming, the idea of doing sci-fi/future themed wall came into being.
